Job Description: 

The role is for an apprentice service engineer, this involves installing, commissioning, repairing, modifying and training customers on our range of electric, hydraulic and hybrid machines.

After the first year of training at the Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre the successful candidate will involve working alongside a skilled engineer both at our Warwick facility and at various customer sites around the UK.

As part of the apprenticeship and when the apprentice enters year 2 of the programme, they will be issued with a company vehicle which is also available for private use. Training in Germany would commence in year 3 or 4 with for typically 12/13 weeks duration.

Qualifications and Qualities: 

Applicants need to have successfully completed their GCSEs with a grade score 4 (C) or higher in at least 5 subjects which must include Maths, English and a STEM related subject.

We expect our apprentices to be willing to learn, have good time keeping skills, be enthusiastic, have a problem solving attitude with confidence to put across their ideas, and be able to work to the highest of standards individually or as part of a team.

Typical Day: 

A typical day would include driving to the customer site and carrying out the necessary duties in order to meet customer requirements.  All work needs to be conducted in a professional manner as all employees are ambassadors or Arburg and are the face of the business.

Working Hours: 

Year 1 – Office hours  arrive 08:15,  depart 16:45

Years 2-4 – When at customer site in GB hours typically 08:00 start and 9 hours is an average day but can be longer or shorter

40 hours plus overtime a week

Salary: 

£15,000-£40,000 (Once Fully Qualified)

Progression: 

On completion of the apprenticeship programme, there will be additional specific training.  This training is conducted at the head office in the Black Forest area of Germany to cover the different machine models. These are usually between 1 and 4 weeks. You can expect to receive training in Germany that is expected to take around 30 weeks and is spread over an estimated 5 year period.

Additional Information: 

The apprentice will be trained at the Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre – full time for the first twelve months.

As this is a service engineering apprenticeship, there is an expectation to visit customer sites.  All due diligence is conducted and all health and safety procedures are followed to ensure the safe working environments for all of our employees.

The successful candidate must hold a full UK driving license upon application
