We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our Internal Sales team. The successful candidate will assist in projecting a professional company image through telephone and email interactions; by undertaking a multi-tasking role which encompasses customer communications (in-bound and out-bound); promotion and profitable sale of goods across the product range; providing supply chain solutions to customer requirements.

Job Title: Internal Sales

Location: Hayley Birmingham, Unit 40 Elmdon Trading Estate, Bickenhill Lane, Birmingham, B37 7HE

Working Hours: 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, plus in 1 in 4 Saturday mornings (Additional working hours may be required)

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Efficient response to incoming enquiries and orders
  • Achieve profitable sale of goods across the product range, up-selling as appropriate
  • Prompt follow-up on customer enquiries not immediately resolved
  • Prepare quotes in response to customer requirements
  • Utilise Hayley’s bespoke IT system to accurately identify, source and price items; to accurately record enquiries and orders, invoices and other documentation
  • Undertake ad hoc purchasing tasks, including placing orders, booking in products and raising customer invoices
  • Work with management/colleagues to identify improvements to services and products
  • Sales and purchasing admin support as required
  • Manage and maintain branch and specific customer stores, ensuring both are maintained to a high standard
  • Build rapport with customers, establishing credibility when providing on site stock replenishment
  • Research and source solutions using the internet and the Hayley Group bespoke IT package
  • Take personal responsibility for timely and accurate fulfilment of customer requirements
  • Undertake other similar or associated duties as may be assigned to you

Skills & Requirements

  • Full clean driving licence
  • Desire to succeed in a sales environment
  • Previous experience of achievement in a similar role would be advantageous, however not essential
  • Ideal candidate will have relevant product knowledge of engineering consumables/MRO products
  • Willing and able to learn about and support new products
  • Proficient in basic computer applications
  • Professional level of verbal and written communication skills, as well as good numerical skills
  • Customer focused, driven to provide consistently high levels of service
  • Margin-aware, flexible and a strong team player
