Job description

Background to the Organisation
Made in Group is a disruptive, tech savvy and entrepreneurial organisation, founded in 2009 which seeks to drive forward British industry, by helping world class manufacturing firms tackle the challenges which they collectively face to ensure the UK economy continues to be a global manufacturing power. Amongst our £120bn of membership which include some of the world’s largest companies such as BAE Systems, Mazak, KUKA, GKN PLC, Jaguar Land Rover and Citizen are hundreds of local family run, owner managed businesses. Together, we are the Made in Group Family, a truly unique network, across multiple sectors and from our outset, we aren’t reliant on government funding which gives us great long term security and commercial agility.

Mission
Our mission is to give these firms a voice, help them source and supply locally to develop communities and technical expertise and help show the rest of the world that the best things are still made here. We just happen to be a membership organisation.

Vision
At the heart of one of the largest automotive and aerospace supply chains in the world is a core of owner managed, often family run businesses that are the lifeblood and ‘engine room’ of our economy. Within 100 miles of our HQ in Birmingham are 32,000 manufacturing and engineering firms. That’s more per square foot than anywhere in Europe, yet we still associate Germany and China as more synonymous with making things. Our vision is to challenge the perceptions of the sector to tackle the skills gap in the sector, educate and inspire firms to adopt and invest in low carbon practices towards net zero following the COP26 conference, adopt more practices to help the firm overcome the unconscious bias they project by becoming more inclusive and to invest in local supply chains, which support local companies, local communities and in turn, local young people.
Values

Entrepreneurship
The business is quick paced and commercially sharp but it requires us to be entrepreneurial in everything we do – often first into the field with new concepts, ideas and technology that are transforming our industry. This is driven throughout the organisation and everyone is encouraged to brainstorm and contribute as ideas take shape and the right route is agreed.

Team
The Made in Group Family means this is an honest and open business, we’re always looking for a better way, so communicating across the team daily is encouraged to create a friendly and transparent team culture.

Members Centric
Our members are everything to us. Our goal is to be their voice so we need to understand them, act on their interests and with everything the question has to be; how do they benefit? Friendly and professional relationships are built which we want to last a life time.
