We are seeking an experienced ENGINEERING DESIGN MANAGER to play a key role in day-to-day engineering whilst managing a highly skilled design team.  Building on the strength and knowledge we have in Engineering, the successful applicant will be required to:

  • facilitate the flow of customer projects and design applications
  • be customer focussed in providing technical responses and solutions to customer sales orders

Responsibilities include:

  • managing the engineering aspects of the Company's operation and its development through introducing and implementing core operating standards and continuous improvement activities
  • configuration management and version controls, and leading by example with engineering practices
  • being highly accomplished in mentoring and developing a skilled team of design engineers
  • the ability to manage bespoke projects, and being the interface with Sales, Operations and Service are key to this role

The ideal candidate will:

  • be based in the Staffordshire/Derbyshire area
  • have a minimum of ten years previous management experience in a customer and bespoke engineering setting
  • need to have worked in a multi-disciplined team with a mixture of mechanical, electrical and application engineers
  • have proven success in motivating and creating a positive and collaborative working environment
  • hold a degree in engineering
  • have a background in mechanical engineering, and fully understand the engineering and development life cycles
