This Planning Manager position is with a globally leading chemical manufacturing company specialising in the manufacture of bespoke resins. The main purpose of the Planning Manager is to oversee the departments day-to-day activities, ensuring the Production schedule is populated to maximise output, minimise downtime and optimise efficiency.

Taking this opportunity as Planning Manager would mean working for a leading global producer of chemical products. This is a key manufacturing company relied on by many industries and this Planning Manager role is critical to ongoing operation.

Responsibilities of the Planning Manger;

  • Oversee the management and population of the Production ensuring products are sequenced efficiently, batch sizing is maximised, and waste minimised
  • Track sales and production orders, identifying and communicating supply problems with Sales and Purchasing ensuring stakeholder awareness
  • Liaise with Sales on manufacture timescales of orders, providing feedback on delays and requests for prioritisation of orders when required
  • Oversee creation of works orders and manufacturing packs for production
  • Analyse sales and raw material data to ensure inventory levels are maintained and requisitions are placed with Purchasing when required
  • Review finished stock levels with due regard for customer needs, storage space and shelf-life constraints
  • Support inventory checks to validate stock accuracy
  • Evaluate customer forecasts ensuring steps are in place to ensure we meet customer demand
  • Ensure opportunities for rework or slow-moving stock are captured and communicated to relevant departments
  • Produce departmental KPIs
  • Effectively utilise the company ERP system to generate reports and review data
  • Ensure resource is allocated as required and any shortages impacting customers are escalated
  • Execute continuous improvement standards across the department
  • Continuously develop direct reports to maintain a high output standard
  • Any other duties not yet listed above at the discretion of the Directors/Line Manager

To be successful in this position as Planning Manager, an established technical background with experience in a production or operations environment on a chemical site (ideally COMAH site) within is required.
