A Supply Chain Warehouse Level 2 Apprenticeship at Durbin Metals, 

Durbin Metal Industries is the leading supplier of cut Aluminium Plate in the U.K. Housing seven plate saws and three bar saws capable of cutting up to 1000mm thick, a borer capable of fine tolerance machined finished components up to 160mm thick, alongside a dedicated team of individuals with a wealth of experience in the metal industry.

We are also able to offer multi metal and plastic solutions to the UK engineering, manufacturing and service market with a 24-hour lead time as standard.

 

Duties will include:

Pick and pack orders accurately, efficiently and safely, ensuring material is ready to despatch to customers on time:

  • Ensure that all IRF’s are picked, quality checked, invoiced and packaged correctly and on time
  • Develop product knowledge to be able to distinguish between the different types of material
  • Invoice, enter locations and check batch information on company’s computer system

Unload vehicles efficiently and safely, ensuring material and lorry are not damaged:

  • Offload and physically sort received material
  • Identify, check and locate material into racks
  • Take responsibility for ensuring the correct material is booked in safely and appropriately located

Process material on time and to customers specification, quantity and quality requirements, whilst adhering to machine operating procedures and health and safety requirements:

  • Operate relevant machinery at Durbins (this may include Bar saw, Borer, Plate saw)
  • Keep all machinery in a clean and well-maintained condition and ensure that it is operating safely
  • Process material in the most efficient way by minimising waste whilst meeting customer specification and quality requirements
  • Plan order of jobs to meet agreed lead times

Load vehicles to the manifest, in the safest and efficient way, complying with vehicle regulations and the planned route:

  • Load vehicles for delivery in the order of the drops, ensuring that the vehicle is not overloaded or dangerously loaded
  • Plan the most efficient delivery routes ensuring compliance with driver regulations and accommodating customer requirements

Move material around the warehouse efficiently and safely, ensuring no damage to property or person:

  • Be licensed and able to drive forklift trucks relevant to the Service Centre
  • Be licensed and able to operate an overhead crane – where relevant to the Service Centre
