Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically astute Technical Sales Engineer to join our OEM Business Development team. This role will be responsible for driving sales growth by identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities within the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) sector. The successful candidate will possess a strong mechanical engineering background, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record in technical sales.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and target potential OEM customers within specified market segments.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers at target accounts.
  • Conduct technical presentations and product demonstrations to showcase the value proposition of our products/services.
  • Understand customer technical requirements and provide effective solutions tailored to their specific needs.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling proposals, quotations, and tenders.
  • Negotiate contracts and close deals to achieve sales targets.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams, including engineering, product development, and marketing, to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Provide technical support and after-sales service to customers.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities and customer interactions within the CRM system.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies.
  • Attend industry events, trade shows, and conferences to network and generate leads.
  • Contribute to the development of sales strategies and marketing campaigns.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • B-Tech or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. Significant relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Proven experience in a technical sales role, preferably within the OEM sector.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and applications.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build rapport and establish long-term relationships with customers.
  • Strong negotiation and closing skills.  
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.  
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout the UK.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience selling bearings or mechanical components.
  • Knowledge of manufacturers of Medical Devices, Measurment Systems, Robotics or Automation.
  • Membership of a relevant professional engineering institution.
