Anglia Metal Ltd is a leading UK manufacturer of plain and tinned copper wire and copper conductors based in Normanton, West Yorkshire. As a company, they continued to operate and supply products to their customers both in the UK and Europe despite the testing times and difficulties posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The management team worked diligently to implement social distancing measures and government guidelines in order to raise awareness, reduce risk of exposure and protect their colleagues. It was particularly important that the company continued to operate safely and were able to supply their customers without major interruptions, as some of these are themselves critical suppliers for the medical equipment market.
Some of the measures taken included furloughing a limited number of staff through the spring and summer months of the first national lockdown, while the business and orders were slowing down. Anglia Metal were then able to have everyone return to work as soon as it was safe and operationally sensible to do so. A number of their office staff were able to work remotely from home and continued to assist the management and operational staff on site.
Furthermore, while a small number of their colleagues have had to self-quarantine over confirmed and suspected cases of Covid-19, they were able to contain any potential spread and did not suffer any major cases or outbreaks among their staff.
Ultimately, the company were able to continue operating without making any of their staff redundant and minimising any direct impact from Covid-19 on their personnel and the day to day operations.
General Manager at Anglia Metal, Howard Bryant, said that “It is clear that 2021 will offer some new challenges but with proven business resilience, it is believed that 2021 will be more prosperous than 2020”.
