Over the last year, our Construction Materials & Modular Recruitment team have grown in team members, new clients, and client projects. With the introduction of larger recruitment projects, we recently welcomed a new Recruitment Consultant, Ryan Simms, to the team. Ryan has joined James Soden, Dom Trowman, Daniel Edley and Matthew Agus to support the recruitment of engineers and Health & Safety roles across the UK’s largest construction and maintenance companies.
As always, it’s great getting to know our new starters and catching up with them to see how their first few months have been. Read below to find out more about Ryan and his role within E3 Recruitment.
Can you give us some background on your career and what led to you joining E3 Recruitment?
Before joining E3R, I worked in IT Telecoms as a Sales and Marketing Executive and spent several years living and travelling around different countries around the world working in different roles and running a travel and food blog. Over the last ten years, my roles have been focused on working in sales, account management and marketing so with that mix of skillsets recruitment was an avenue I wanted to explore.
Returning home, I knew I was looking for a change in direction compared to what I had previously been working in and was aware of E3 Recruitment with living in the area and knew that recruitment was a diverse and challenging industry to be in, so I reached out to the team here and haven’t looked back!
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I enjoy travelling and exploring new places and going on country walks with my wife stopping at a pub or two along the way! I’m true to my roots and a huge Halifax RLFC fan. If I’ve got sports, good food, and the countryside then I’m happy with that! With having lived abroad for several years, I’m also a qualified PADI Divemaster… which doesn’t come in too handy living on top of a hill in Halifax!
How have your first couple of months been?
My first couple of months have been great, the teams here at E3R are brilliant and we have a fantastic onboarding and training scheme provided by Charlotte Smith (Business Support Manager) and Ross Elsdon (Training Manager).
It’s been great getting to know the people at E3R and settling into my team alongside James, Dom, Daniel, and Matt. Our Construction Materials & Modular Recruitment team get to work across a variety of projects for our clients and it’s incredible to see and learn everything that goes along with large-scale recruitment drives for some of the UK’s biggest construction companies.
Tell us about your role and responsibilities in our Construction Materials and Modular Recruitment team?
For my first couple of months, I’ve been focusing on learning the ins and outs of recruitment. I’ve started with the recruitment of Engineers and Health & Safety roles for some of our client accounts. Starting with sourcing, vetting, and sending to clients alongside working with clients and my team to help attract more candidates to our brilliant clients through advertising and marketing tactics.
What aspects of your role are you most excited about and what are you looking forward to?
I’m looking forward to getting to know the wider company a lot more, we have great support here and a lot of opportunities to make the most out of roles. I’m also looking forward to growing into my role a lot more, becoming more confident and learning from my team.
What initially attracted you to a career in recruitment?
I was looking for a change of direction that would utilise the skills I’ve collected over the years from sales, account management and marketing. Being a Recruiter is varied, you need to be quick off the mark, be knowledgeable about your industry and be able to think outside of the box, especially in today’s candidate-driven market.
What would you say to anyone looking to start their career in recruitment?
Go for it! It’s been four months since I started with E3 Recruitment, and it’s been fantastic so far. I think for my first role in recruitment, this couldn’t have been a better company to start with. We have a great Training Manager, and the Directors are always working alongside all of us to support big projects. It’s a very diverse and fast-paced industry, but if you love working with people and building relationships with your accounts, recruitment could be a career for you.
E3 Recruitment is where we are today because of our people. With rapid growth each and every year, we are always on the lookout for talented individuals to join our teams. Whether that’s in our recruitment, finance, marketing, compliance or training departments, we are always open to seeing where the best fit could be for you. If you’re a passionate, hard-working individual who is looking to join a company that provides great training, the latest tools and software and genuinely cares about its employees then E3R could be the place for you.
