As part of a Virtual Breakfast Morning held on Wednesday 13th December 2022 for members of Made in Group, three business leaders within UK industry shared their inspiring stories with attendees.

Virtual Breakfast Mornings are networking and best practice sharing events, exclusively for members of Made in the Midlands and Made in Yorkshire. Attendees have the chance to learn best practice from 3 hosting speakers, followed by a 30-minute round table discussion on relevant topics.

The speakers for this event were Dolores Sanders (Co-Founder and Strategic Director at Total Control Pro), Richard Parkes (Sales & Business Director at Cadspec) and Daren Lightwood (MD at Alwayse Engineering).

Dolores Sanders (Co-Founder and Strategic Director at Total Control Pro) discussed how to make better decisions about technology and industry 4 practices. She also touched on the importance of ensuring staff are engaged with new technology and understanding that what they are using is crucial for the functionality of the business.

For Richard Parkes’ talk (Sales & Business Director at Cadspec), he discussed recruitment and how to go about identifying the best people for a job role. Richard also spoke about going about onboarding and how to best introduce new staff to your business. Finally, Richard spoke about best practice for training a new employee and a roadmap for their personal development.

Daren Lightwood (MD at Alwayse Engineering) discussed with attendees the carbon reduction processes, particularly focusing on how Alwayse has reduced waste - especially plastic - and have upgraded their packaging to use less material. Daren also touched on how the company has worked with distributors to reduce the volume of the packaging they use.
