The Made in Group, including Made in the Midlands and Made in Yorkshire, is proud to announce that they will be sponsoring the University of Wolverhampton Racing (UWR) car for the third year in a row.
As massive advocates for the UK manufacturing, engineering and STEM, the announcement of the sponsorship for another year comes as no surprise. The UWR team gives students real life industry experience working as a professional team in various motorsports.
On Wednesday 2nd March three-time F1 race winner Johnny Herbert unveiled the UWR car at their campus in Telford. The new 365 brake horsepower vehicle is set to take the team to new levels of success for the inaugural Praga Cup season - a new single-make series that will race as part of the prestigious Britcar package. What's more extraordinary is the student team taking part from UWR, Telford Innovation Campus in Priorslee, are the only university racing team in the Praga cup series.
Charles Addison, Managing Director of the Made in Group, said:
“The unveiling of the car had a great atmosphere and the appearance of Johnny Herbert seemed to be invaluable to the students. We wish UWR great success in the series for the Praga Cup and we are delighted to be sponsoring them for another year.”
In response to another year of sponsorship from the organisation, Professor Amar Aggoun, Head of the School of Computer Science, Engineering and Mathematics, said:
“The UWR team are proud to continue our partnership with Made in the Midlands for the 2022 season.”
MiM’s focus on supporting and promoting UK manufacturing is a vital message, and one that the University’s School of Engineering and the UWR team also has at its heart. We are training the next generation of engineers across multiple disciplines, and with the support of MiM and its members we will produce graduates who can work at all levels of manufacturing and engineering, as well as producing some excellent results on the racing track.”
