At the start of 2022, E3 Recruitment chose men’s mental health charity, Andy’s Man Club as our charity partner. Pledging to raise funds and awareness for well-needed support across the UK.
We’re pleased to share that our E3R team has raised £4,000 to help Andy’s Man Club provide training, deliver further support and open more clubs across the UK.
Andy’s Man Club strives to break down the stigma around men’s mental health, by providing over 117 free support groups nationwide, with over 2000 men attending. Over this year we have been raising funds and awareness for the charity to support them with spreading their pledge of ‘It’s okay to talk’.
As we recruit for roles within both manufacturing and engineering sectors, we have started to see leading companies across the UK review how they can better support their employees by assisting them with their mental health. This is done through offering support, introducing workshops, and creating more conversations about what to do when they are struggling. Introducing these efforts has made it easier for employees to gain support in the workplace, creating a positive environment.
We first began our fundraising efforts with our BIG 24-hour Ride & Run, which saw us keep our treadmill and exercise bike running for the full 24 – hours. The event brought together our teams from our Halifax Head Office, Leeds, and London, with Yorkshire’s leading manufacturers to make a change for men’s mental health. Altogether we had 96 participants from 20 companies who successfully completed over 500 miles, raising over £3,000.
To help us reach our target of £4,000, the E3R Warriors then took to the Bradford Dragon Boat Festival at Roberts Park in Bradford, competing against 40 teams. They also took part in a charity 5 aside football tournament where they ended up coming in third place, playing against 19 companies. The money we raised from both tournaments went straight into running over 100 Andy’s Man Club support groups, helping men get through the most challenging times in their lives.
E3R Director James Soden commented on the partnership: “We know the impact mental health has on everyone at some stage in their lives. Ensuring we are supportive of our employees, candidates and clients is of huge importance to our core values. Looking after the whole person regardless of the responsibility we have for them is and will always be at the forefront of what we do.”
In 2023 we are pleased to continue to fundraise for Andy’s Man Club through another charity event, where we aim to raise over £5,000. We will be working closely with Andy’s Man Club throughout next year to provide support and guidance to members through job-seeking advice, CV preparation and offering opportunities to work with some of the UK’s biggest manufacturers.
